The Mill had reportedly been used since approximately 1945 for various manufacturing process, including storage and / or use of arsenic, lead, solvents and organic bromide and mercury compounds. The properties had been vacant for a significant amount of time and were in derelict condition. All structural walls were to be considered potentially structurally unstable. The roof structures, ceiling structures, suspended timber floor structures and staircases had been exposed for a substantial period of time and were in a hazardous condition. This project required considerable liaison with the Environment Agency.
